Good post, guys. It’s hard to believe that using something like unique article wizard would get you into that much trouble. I’ve never used the program, but it doesn’t seem like the kind of thing that would get you totally whacked.

I have a question relating to the $500k offer that you initially declined – it actually has to do with the circumstances relating to the drop in rankings. Have you ever bought a site that turned out to be a complete “flop” right after you bought it? In other words, you buy a site making $1,000/month and 30 days after the purchase, the site is making $100/month due to a drop in the SERPs or other reason. That’s my biggest fear as I’m just starting out in the web flipping business. When you’re buying a website, how do you know that an owner hasn’t used blackhat techniques to build backlinks and Google just hasn’t caught up with them yet? Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Joe, thanks for the great question. It is very important that you do your due diligence before you buy a website. Look over the site and see if they have implemented SEO the way I teach it should be done. The next thing to check is the age of the site. If the site is more than 1 year old, and they are ranking for some terms then most likely they haven’t been doing any black hat stuff. If the site is new and they are ranking ask them how they did their SEO. Also ask for access to analytics to see what kind of organic traffic they get and how long they have been getting it. Long term organic traffic is always good sign of white hat SEO and a much safer bet.

I’m working on a website at the moment that i won’t sell for anything less than a six figure number :) However, I will definitely not hesitate should an offer be made.
