Having the right mindset for making a living online is crucial. I remember many years ago I said to myself, “If I could just make $300 a month online that would be so great because it would pay my car payment…” Does that sound familiar to anyone?
Now I don’t have car payments anymore but knowing what I know now I would instead say if I were just beginning, “If I made $300 a month online that would be perfect because I will have $300 a month to help me get to $2000 a month.” Right now $300 a month probably sounds like a lot of money but once you get there you will be surprised how little it is.
Don’t start using the money for your own personal use until you are consistently making $1000 a month. And then only take out $500 and use the rest for buying links, getting programming work done, advertising on relevant sites, paying copywriters and making your site better. Don’t be satisfied with mediocrity (although I think mediocrity doesn’t come until you are making $2000-$3000 a month).
Keep setting new goals for yourself and build the business up. If I would have stopped and only worked on the first website that ever made me money, I would make a respectable income every year, but I wouldn’t have been able to quit my job and I wouldn’t have the lifestyle and freedom that I enjoy now.
Yesterday I decided not to come into work so I could work on editing a movie I shot with my two boys (Adding over 70 laser gun effects takes a long time). As I was home working on it I realized again how lucky I am and how grateful I am to have the freedom to do those kinds of things. It never would have happened if I didn’t build my online business to where it is.
Set your sights high. Take time to learn the things you need to be more successful. And NEVER give up!
I don’t know how many of you have ever seen the TV show Fringe, but it is one of the if not the best show on television.
I was watching it last night online and the show had a few of those “Holy Crap” moments where I had to text Jesse and tell him how crazy the episode was, and that was just in the first couple of minutes.
If that doesn’t convince you to give the show a try then it may not be for you.
The second season just started last week so if you have never seen it (Thursdays on Fox) I highly recommend you go out and buy or rent the DVD’s from season one to get caught up.
If you are a fan of JJ Abrams, unexplained stuff, unethical science experiments and crazy stuff that is hard to wrap your brain around then this is the show for you.
Check it out if you are in the mood for some good entertainment this evening. (You’ll have to DVR the Office)
I know many of you are thinking, “does Adam really believe that?” Well the answer to that question is maybe not the best movie ever but if I don’t over hype it how else will I get people to see it.
Anyway, I was down in my theater room this morning (I built it after we sold “Diana”) watching the special features of Lady In The Water and it just reminded me how upset I get about the fact that the movie is not more popular.

Truth be told Lady In The Water is a great movie. Probably M. Night Shyamalan’s best work and yet the movie tanked at the box office compared to his previous box office smashes. People were too busy seeing the latest (lame) installment of Pirates of the Caribbean to see Lady in the Water and so instead of seeing an awesome original movie they saw a sequel that was pretty bad.
Warner Bros did a horrible job marketing the movie touting it as a scary wolf story which totally missed what the movie was.
So bottom line here, if you have ever taken my advice before on this blog then take this advice:
Go buy Lady In The Water on DVD or BluRay. It is a clean well written, well acted movie that everyone should see.
I woke up this morning at 5:25am to go play basketball. I played for an hour and a half and then came home to get ready for the “work” day. As I was driving to work I was so tired that I literally fell asleep waiting for a stop light.
I thought to myself, “what can I do to give myself more energy?” I have to ask that question because I don’t consume anything with caffeine in it. Then I remembered reading somewhere that an apple had the same effect on your body as a cup of coffee in the morning.
I decided to put the apple to the test. Our office building is next to a gas station and so I went over and bought me an apple (which cost me $1.38, don’t buy apples at gas stations) and ate it on my way back to the office.
Before I was finished eating the apple I already felt 100% rejuvenated. I had morning energy like I had never known before. This truly is something revolutionary for me because I have a healthy way to get energized in the morning.
Just thought I would share it with you all.

Yesterday as I pulled up to my driveway after a long hard days work (wink, wink) I noticed my 7 year old son Boston in the front sitting at a small table with a pitcher of lemonade. It took me a minute before I realized that he had a lemonade stand set up.
This really took me by surprise as I would have expected him to be too scared to try something like that on his own. I had noticed that over the last couple of weeks he had been making a lot of lemonade and I was wondering why he was making so much. Now I realize that what he really was doing was perfecting his product.
So I got out of my truck and just kind of stood there and watched as one kid after another came up to his stand and paid $.25 for a cup of lemonade. As one kid would buy some other neighborhood kids would see the goings on and come over and ask if my son was selling lemonade. They would then run home and get money and come buy a glass for themselves.

I stood and watched perplexed as these kids all wanted to be part of this event of buying their own glass of lemonade. It made me realize a selling principle that is true in both 7 year olds and adults alike. People want to be a part of the thing that everyone else is a part of. That is why social media works so well. That is why our Make Money Posting Links On Google Scam post has over 30 comments on it.
People love to be a part of something big. For my son and the neighborhood kids the “big” thing was buying lemonade at the stand. This is why having a lot of testimonials on your sales page works so well. It creates the sense of “everybody is doing it and you should too”.
So now the goal for you is to harness this knowledge and use it to sell to your visitors. Create an atmosphere of “this is the happening place to be”. Add a forum or open up blog comments on your blog, collect more testimonials…do something to create your own lemonade stand buzz.
Good luck and get social.
